| If Armstrong Doped, Teammates Say They Saw Nothing |
PARIS (AP) -- As U.S. investigators dig into Lance Armstrong's Tour de France winning teams for evidence of doping, one of the allegations from Floyd Landis is that the cyclist approved of drug use on his teams and knew it was widespread.
However, several of Armstrong's European teammates say that doesn't square with their memories of riding with the seven-time Tour winner.
They say Armstrong did not organize team-wide doping and in fact, they didn't get to know him well. They describe him as businesslike and somewhat aloof.
Steffen Kjaergaard rode with the Postal team in 2000 and 2001. He says that he never saw doping and Landis' stories are ``hard to believe.'' (Copyright 2010 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
