| America's Cup Signs Marketing Aces |
VALENCIA, Spain (AP) -- America's Cup organizers have signed two marketing managers credited with playing a major role in transforming the hugely successful UEFA Champions League.
America's Cup Event Authority says it has contracted Switzerland's Richard Worth as chairman with responsibility for commercial and media aspects. American Craig Thompson has been appointed chief executive officer.
A statement released Friday says the two will work to promote the America's Cup, international sport's oldest trophy, and attract more fans and commercial interest.
Both have lifelong ties to sport and worked together at the T.E.A.M sports marketing agency that helped make a success of the Champions League. (Copyright 2010 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
