| Illini Start Tuneups With Wayne State |
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- The regular season's still 10 days away but Illinois' basketball team will start tuning up with an exhibition game against Division II Wayne State. The Illini will take on the Michigan school Tuesday night at 7:30 at the Assembly Hall. Illinois will be without transfer point guard Sam Maniscalco. Coach Bruce Weber said Monday that the grad student will be held out of the game as he continues to work his way back from ankle surgery last year. Maniscalco is expected to be the starting point guard. Illinois will also be without freshman Devin Langford. He broke a finger and is expected to miss four to six weeks. Illinois, which was 20-14 last season, will open the regular season Nov. 11 at home against Loyola-Illinois. (Copyright 2011 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
