Bears Defense Giving Up Huge Yards; Lions Next
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) -- The Chicago Bears defense is off to its worst start in terms of yards allowed after four games since Lovie Smith became coach in 2004.

The Bears rank 31st in the league, giving up 425.8 yards a game heading into Monday night's game at Detroit.

A hamstring injury to safety Chris Harris hasn't helped, and it's uncertain whether he'll return against the Lions. The Bears were also without safety Major Wright for one game, but there have been no other injury issues.

The defensive line is hoping to get a better pass rush on Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford after getting close to Carolina's Cam Newton only occasionally last week. Stafford was knocked out of both his previous starts against the Bears with injuries.
