Young, Thin Roster Creates Questions at Illinois
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP)--Illinois' 23-13 record last season and NCAA tournament appearance were pleasant surprises.

But the heart of that team is gone and no one knows quite what to expect out of this year's Illini.

They will be young when they open Nov. 8 against Alabama State. Five members of the team are freshmen.

And they will be thin. Illinois only has 11 players on the roster.

Coach John Groce expects to lean heavily on junior center Nnanna Egwu. He's the only experienced big man on the team. But he might also be one of its better shooters.

Illinois will also look to transfer Rayvonte Rice. The guard is form Champaign but spent two years at Drake before coming home.
