The local sports schedule is nearly empty on this Wednesday, with the exception of the Carl Sandburg College men's soccer team's playoff game. The Chargers have won three straight postseason contests, and will play at Oakton College this afternoon at 3 in the semifinals of the Region Tournament.

A pair of area high school volleyball teams will square off for the class 2A Regional Tournament title tomorrow night at United High School. The 24-and-7 Knoxville Blue Bullets will play the 22-and-14 A-Town Tornados for the title tomorrow night at 7. Knoxville advanced with last night's win over West Central, while Abingdon-Avon defeated the host United Red Storm.

The Galesburg Silver Streaks girls saw their season end with a loss to top-seeded Chillicothe IVC in the class 3A Regional in Monmouth last night. The Streaks didn't go down without a fight, though, as they won the opening set of the match 25-15. Rachel Walter led Galesburg with 22 assists, while Brook VanOttegem had 13 digs, and Shaylee Floreen had 10 kills.
