Volleyball State Finals

A Western Big Six team will be trying to bring home a state volleyball championship.

Quincy, this year's Big Six champion with a perfect 10-0 record, meets LaGrange Lyons Township in the Class 4A state semifinals Friday night at 7:30 at Redbird Arena.

The Blue Devils (37-3) lost just one set in conference play this season, on October 15th when Quincy defeated conference runner-up Moline two games to one. The Blue Devils went on to beat United Township in the semifinals and the Maroons in the championship of the Moline Regional.

Quincy advanced to state by winning the Normal West Sectional - beating both Normal Community and O'Fallon in straight sets - and the Normal Community Supersectional when the Blue Devils toppled Benet Academy in two games.

LaGrange Lyons Township (36-4) beat Oak Lawn, Oak Park Fenwick, Chicago St. Ignatius and Chicago Mother McAuley - all in two games - to qualify for the state semifinals.

The Blue Devils are making their second state appearance in school history and their first since 1999.
