| CSC Women's Cross Country Team 35th at Nationals |
The Carl Sandburg College women's cross country team took home a 35th place finish Saturday morning at the NJCAA Division I national championships in Peoria.
The Chargers competed as a team in the 5K. Morgan Melvin was the first to finish for Sandburg in 184th place with a time of 22:26. Tia Wunder was 215th in 23:39, Chelsea Brown was 243rd in 24:51, Kelli Collins was 249th in 25:17 and Sarah Heller was 259th in 29:18.
Central Arizona was the team champion. Caroline Jepleting of New Mexico JC was the individual winner in 17:19.
Two Chargers competed in the men's 8K. Wes Anderson crossed the finish in a season-best time of 28:42 for 140th place overall. Joe Shepherd was 257th in 36:22.
Stephen Sambu of Rend Lake College was the first to cross the line in 24:00, leading Rend Lake to the team championship.
