Simmons Coaches Evansville Past Former Team SIU-E in Lopsided Victory
EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) -- James Haarsma scored a career-high 22 points Wednesday night to lead Evansville to a 76-46 victory over SIU-Edwardsville.

Haarsma, a sophomore, made 10 of his 14 shots and grabbed 12 rebounds. Colt Ryan scored 14 points for the Aces (2-0), Denver Holmes had 11 and Bryan Bouchie 10. Troy Taylor contributed 12 rebounds and six assists for Evansville, which raced to a 20-4 lead and led 43-21 at halftime. The Aces shot 49 percent in the game.

Mark Yelovich had 11 points and seven rebounds for the Cougars (0-3), who were outrebounded 49-24.

The game featured former SIU-E coach Marty Simmons going up his former team as the head coach at Evansville. Simmons is in his second year on the bench for the Aces. He played college basketball for Evansville after transferring from Indiana.
