Moline's Ryser Steps Down as Football Coach
After a second straight year of struggles, Moline's football program will be under new direction next season.

Media reports in the Quad Cities say Joel Ryser has resigned as the head coach of the Maroons after nine seasons and more than two-decades with the football program.

Ryser pointed to back-to-back losing seasons and health issues as reasons for his decision to step down. The Maroons finished this past season with a 2-7 record and went 4-5 in 2008..

Ryser had a 45-42 overall record at Moline and his team won the Western Big Six in 2007, finishing with a 9-2 record. He will reportedly stay on at Moline High School as a teacher.
