High School Volleyball - Postseason
Class 1A:
@ Lewistown Sectional:
United's season came to an end last night. The Red Storm lost to Illini Central in two games: 25-21, 25-23. United finishes with a 36-1 record. The Cougars (33-6) will play Tremont (21-11) at 7:00 Thursday night at 7:00 in the sectional championship match. Tremont ended Princeville's season in three games: 19-25, 25-15, 28-26. The Lady Princes finish with a 20-9 record. The winner of the Illini Central/Tremont match moves on to Saturday's Abingdon Supersectional against the winner of the Camp Point Sectional.
Class 2A:
@ Chillicothe Sectional:
Monmouth-Roseville extended its season by beating Brimfield-Elmwood in two games: 25-17, 28-26. The Titans (22-15) advance to play Illinois Valley Central (29-5) Thursday night at 7:00 in the sectional final. The Grey Ghosts knocked out El Paso-Gridley (21-7) in two games: 25-21, 25-16. The winner of the Monmouth-Roseville/IVC match advances to Saturday's Spring Valley Hall Supersectional against the winner of the Oregon Sectional.
Men's College Basketball
Carl Sandburg College had a rough start to the season. The Chargers (0-1) opened the season at Indian Hills Community College and lost 91-51. Jo-Paul Jones led Sandburg with 15 points. CSC travels to Clinton, Iowa to play Clinton College Thursday night.
