| IVC Standing in the Way of M-R Trip to Supersectional |
POSTED 11:33 a-m 11/4/9 Monmouth-Roseville has its eye on a trip to the supersectional round, but for that to happen the Titans will need to win their most important match of the season first. Monmouth-Roseville (22-15) squares off against Illinois Valley Central (29-5) Thursday night at 7:00 in the championship of the Class 2A Chillicothe Sectional. Besides being a solid team, the Grey Ghosts will also be playing on their home court, making the match-up an especially challenging one for the Titans. Monmouth-Roseville, led by Rebecca Gillen's 11 kills and three blocks, advanced by beating Brimfield-Elmwood in two games (25-17, 25-26) Tuesday night in the sectional semifinals. IVC, paced by Kelsey Brooke with nine kills and 12 digs, dispatched of El Paso-Gridley in two games (25-21, 25-16) to advance. The sectional winner moves on to the Spring Valley Hall Supersectional Saturday at 7 p-m to play the winner of the Oregon Sectional championship matchup between Harvard and Savannah West Carroll. |
