NORMAL, Ill. (AP) -- Jackie Carmichael and Blake Mishler each scored 18 points and Illinois State cruised past SIU-Edwardsville 92-64 Sunday.
Trey Blue added 14 points and Tony Lewis had 10 for the Redbirds, who had their highest point total in a season opener since 1997.
Corey Wickware scored 25 points to lead the Cougars (0-2), and Cornelius Chatt added 12.
Illinois State, which never trailed, took a 14-2 lead 3 1/2 minutes into the game and led 46-33 at halftime. The Redbirds extended their lead as high as 33 in the second half, when they shot 57.7 percent, and had 10 players score.
Mishler's point total was a career high, and Illinois State improved to 6-0 all-time against Edwardsville.
