|Zook Says Illinois Fans Right to be Upset
|CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- Illinois football coach Ron Zook says he's hearing from fans unhappy about Saturday's loss to underdog Minnesota, and he says he doesn't blame them.
Zook said Tuesday that he has no problem with fans being upset after the 38-34 loss. That defeat followed a 67-65 loss at Michigan.
After starting the season 5-3, the Illini are 5-5 (3-4 Big Ten) and still looking for the sixth win that get them to a bowl. Games at Northwestern and Fresno State remain.
Zook entered the season with a mandate to improve on last season's three-win team. The school fired most of his assistant coaches after last season.
Some fans complain that Illinois failed to use timeouts at key times on Saturday.
Zook says there's no point in assessing blame.
