A coaching vacancy will need to be filled before the next football season at Monmouth-Roseville High School. Head Coach Curt Crum reportedly has resigned following an 0-9 season. Crum's 5-year record at the helm of the Titans program was 15-32, but did include back-to-back playoff appearances in 2007 and 2008. Crum will be continuing his role as the varsity wrestling coach.
The betterment of Knox College athletics is the goal of the recently formed K-CLUB. The college says the organization will consist of alumni, family, and friends who will work towards the improvement in quality of Prairie Fire athletics. The K-CLUB hopes to raise funds to help the teams, improve the facilities, increase attendance, and build enthusiasm for the Knox athletic programs. Memberships are available at five levels of annual contributions.
The Carl Sandburg College men's basketball team opened its season with a loss Tuesday night, falling to Southeastern Community College in Burlington 82-64. The Chargers were outscored 39-21 in the second half, after being tied 43-all at the break. Next up for CSC is a Friday night game at McHenry.
