Michigan and Illinois Seek Bowl Eligible Win
ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) -- Michigan and embattled coach Rich Rodriguez desperately need a win against Illinois to make college football's winningest team bowl eligible.

The Fighting Illini also have plenty of motivation because a victory Saturday at the Big House would secure a spot in the post season in what was expected to be a rebuilding year.

Illinois has a chance to win three straight games for the first time since the end of the 2007 season, when it earned a spot in the Rose Bowl. The Illini also have an opportunity to beat the Wolverines three years in a row for the first time since the early 1950s.

The Wolverines have dropped three straight.

Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon says he hopes people will stop wondering about Rodriguez's job security.
