| IRB Chief Says US Sure to Host Rugby World Cup |
LONDON (AP) -- The chief executive of rugby's governing body says it is a question of "when, not if" the sport's World Cup is held in the United States.
Japan will become the first nation from outside the sport's elite to host the showpiece in 2019, and International Rugby Board chief Mike Miller says the United States or Russia could soon follow.
Miller says "it's a question of when, not if, it's going to happen."
Miller said Wednesday the IRB's practice of choosing two tournament hosts at a time should allow it to spread a game that will be included in the 2016 Olympics in Brazil. (Copyright 2010 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
