Local Sports Round Up 11/10/10
Several Knoxville High School athletes are receiving recognition for their achievements this week. Katie Houston and Haley Jones, both Juniors on the Blue Bullets volleyball squad, have been named as first teamers on the Prairieland Conference All-Conference team for the just completed season. Meanwhile, standout golfer Abby Ball is scheduled to sign her letter of intent this afternoon to play at Western Illinois University. Abby is the first female golfer to go Division 1 from Knoxville High.

The Carl Sandburg College Women's basketball team will open the season on the road tonight at Lincoln College. The Chargers will then spend the weekend in Quincy, taking part in the John Wood Classic Friday and Saturday.

The Galesburg girls basketball season begins in less than a week, as the Silver Streaks will play host to Illini West Tuesday night. In preparation, the annual "meet the streaks" scrimmage will be held tomorrow night at John Thiel Gym.

The schedule is out for this year's Orion tip-off classic in boys basketball. Knoxville begins the season there with a Nov. 22 match-up against Kewanee.
