HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL
The Galesburg Silver Streaks had a big fourth quarter once again, as the Streaks defeated East Peoria at the Thanksgiving Tournament Friday 63-44. Jesica Lieber was the Streaks leader again with 16 points, followed closely behind by Sharron Diggins with 15 points. Courtney Potendyke led East Peoria with 20 points.
Also at the tournament: Alleman 56, Illini West 42 United Township 59, Knoxville 45
At the Sophomore Thanksgiving Tournament, the GHS Girls move to 2-0 as they defeated East Peoria 57-43. Their next game is Saturday at 4:30 versus Springfield.

HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL FUNDRAISER
The Galesburg Silver Streaks boys basketball team will be holding a meet and greet fundraiser at the Pizza House in downtown Galesburg Saturday evening from 5 to 8.
HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL
The state semifinals in classes 1A-8A will be played Saturday. In class 2A, Stark County travels to Morrison for a one o'clock kickoff. Stark County opened the playoffs with a win at Knoxville, then upended Deer Creek-Mackinaw by one point, and last week shut out previously undefeated Mercer County. If the Rebels win Saturday, they will play for the state championship next Friday in Champaign.
COLLEGE FOOTBALL
Monmouth College will travel to Bloomington for their Division III opening round playoff game with Illinois Wesleyan. The Fighting Scots and Titans are scheduled for a 12 noon start Saturday. |
