| Bears QB Hanie to Make 1st Career Start vs. Oakland |
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) -- Caleb Hanie stepped into a very difficult situation last January when he entered the NFC Championship game after Jay Cutler was hurt and Todd Collins was ineffective.
Hanie led the Chicago Bears to two fourth-quarter TDs. He also threw two interceptions in a 21-14 loss to Green Bay.
Now the spotlight is on Hanie again. With Cutler out for an indefinite period of time after surgery on his broken right thumb, Hanie is being counted on to keep the Bears' momentum going after they have won five straight.
Hanie says he won't played scared, won't be ultra-conservative and won't play dumb when Chicago plays at Oakland this Sunday in his first career start. (Copyright 2011 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
