ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- St. Thomas has surged on to the next level of the NCAA Division III football playoffs.

The Tommies topped Monmouth College of Illinois 38-10 on Saturday afternoon at a soaked O'Shaughnessy Stadium in St. Paul. They will host St. John Fisher College of New York next weekend in the quarterfinals.

Colin Tobin rushed for 250 yards and two touchdowns and Fritz Waldvogel returned a kickoff 100 yards for a score and caught six passes for 148 yards and a touchdown for the Tommies, who raised their record to 12-0 on the season.

This is third straight year that St. Thomas has reached the national quarterfinals.
