The championship game of the ROWVA Cranberry Classic girls basketball tournament will be played tonight, when the host Tigers play the West Central Heat. Both teams have gone 2-0 in the round-robin event, as ROWVA bested Abingdon last night 42-28, and West Central topped Mercer County. The early game tonight features two teams looking for their first wins, as Mercer County meets Abingdon.
Also tonight, at the Galva Tournament, the host Wildcats will play the Elmwood Trojans. Elmwood is 1-0 after downing United in last night's opening game 48-31.
Action at the Galesburg Thanksgiving Tournament will resume tomorrow night, when the Silver Streaks play East Peoria. Galesburg beat Illini West in their first game last night 70-64. Jessica Leiber led the way with 19 points, while Sabrina Clay added 15. The Streaks also have games Friday and Saturday nights against Metamora and Springfield.
The Galesburg girls swimming team leaves tomorrow for the state swim meet in Evanston. The Silver Streaks are looking to cap a great season that has seen them win the Western Big 6, Regional, and Sectional titles.
