IHSA Releases 2010 High School Basketball Regional and Sectional Sites
POSTED 10:57 a-m 12/15/09 The high school basketball season isn't even a month old yet, but the Illinois High School Association has come out with the the postseason regional and sectional sites for area teams.

Galesburg High School's boys basketball team will play in the Class 3-A Geneseo Regional. Joining the Silver Streaks in the field are fellow Western Big Six member Rock Island, Geneseo, Dixon and Sterling. The Geneseo regional winner will move on to play in the Ottawa Sectional. The other regional sites that feed into that sectional are Peoria Notre Dame, LaSalle-Peru and Limestone. Supersectional sites have not yet been determined.

Bushnell will host a sectional in Class 1-A. Regionals at Williamsfield (Abingdon, Brimfield, Elmwood, Knoxville, Princeville, Stark County and Williamsfield), Oneida (Rowva, United Annawan, West Central, Galva, Wethersfield, Orion and Ridgewood), Havana and Mount Sterling feed into the sectional at Bushnell-Prairie City High School.

Farmington is a sectional host in Class 2-A. Feeding into it are regionals at Peoria Manual (Manual, Canton, Farmington, Peoria Christian and Midwest Central), Sherrard (Sherrard, Monmouth-Roseville, Mercer County, Rock Island Alleman and Rockridge), El Paso and Chillicothe.

Pekin is the host of a Class 4-A sectional. The regionals feeding into that are at East Moline, Normal Community, O'Fallon and Alton.

Abingdon is a Class 1-A girls basketball sectional site. The corresponding regional sites are Biggsville (West Central, Abingdon, United, BPC-A, North Fulton and West Prairie), Woodhull (Ridgewood, Galva, Knoxville, Rowva, and Orion), Toulon (Stark County, Wethersfield, Annawan, DePue, Putnam County and Henry-Senachwine) and Varna (Brimfield, Elmwood, Princeville, Midland, Peoria Heights and Roanoke-Benson). Another sectional site in the region is at Havana, which has regionals at Mt. Pulaski, Mendon, Glasford and Virginia feeding into it.

Monmouth hosts a sectional in Class 2-A. The four regional sites in the sectional are at Beardstown, Eureka, Rock Island Alleman (Alleman, Mercer County, Kewanee, Sherrard and Rockridge) and Carthage (Illini West, Monmouth-Roseville, Canton, Farmington, Macomb and Hamilton-West Hancock).

Galesburg High School hosts its own regional in Class 3-A. Along with Galesburg in the regional are Rock Island, Geneseo, Dixon and Sterling - the same teams that are in the Class 3-A Geneseo boys regional. The Galesburg regional winner advances to the LaSalle-Peru Sectional to be joined by the winners of the Ottawa, Peoria Woodruff and Metamora regionals.
