High School Boys Basketball

United beat Williamsfield 56-46

Ridgewood downed Prophetstown 73-56

@ Oneida:

Elmwood defeated Mercer County 61-58. Brett Anderson scored a game-high 30 points for the Golden Eagles. Jake Hammond paced Elmwood with 21.

Rowva won its third straight game, a 49-34 victory against Erie. Caleb Lepisto led the Tigers with 20 points.


Abingdon beat Wethersfield 49-23. Jesse Hines and Clifford Moshier scored 11 points apiece for the Commandos.

Bushnell-Prairie City-Avon stopped Galva 56-43. The Spartans also won the junior varsity game 48-44.

Brimfield ran its record to 9-0 with a 79-55 win against Princeville

West Prairie lost to Illini West 79-24

Southeastern ran past South Fulton 73-28

Stark County beat Mendota 63-49 (Colmone Classic at Spring Valley)

Annawan got past Henry 57-53

Knoxville-Abingdon Tournament:

@ Abingdon:

Farmington beat West Central 47-21

United downed Abingdon 45-29 behind 19 points from Gina Long. Melissa VonKannon scored 17 for the Commandos.

@ Knoxville:

West Prairie stopped Bushnell-Prairie City-Avon 69-57

Knoxville beat Wethersfield 64-39

Local College Basketball


Knox College (1-6) lost at Eureka College (5-3) 88-57. Ben Wetherbee led the Prairie Fire in scoring with 13 points and had six steals. The win was the fourth straight for Eureka.


Knox College (3-2) beat Eureka College (3-5) 86-79. The Prairie Fire trailed 41-32 at halftime but opened the second half with a 20-6 run to take control. Erin Navolio and Krystyna Williams led Knox with 14 points apiece. Jenny Haskell added 13 points, five rebounds, four assists and six steals.

High School Girls Bowling

United Township edged Galesburg by four pins (2486-2482) in a dual meet at U-T. Kendra Weichmann led the Silver Streaks with a 588 three-game series. That included games of 224 and 200. United Township also won the junior varsity match (2298-1979).
