|Hawkeyes Prepare for Explosive Georgia Tech Offense
|IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) -- Iowa defensive coordinator Norm Parker says no offense he's seen in his 11 years in Iowa City will require more preparation than Georgia Tech, which plays the Hawkeyes in next month's Orange Bowl.
Parker says the Yellow Jackets are the masters of the triple-option offense, a run-based attack that powered No. 9 Georgia Tech (11-2) to the ACC title. Parker says if the Hawkeyes aren't well prepared, the Yellow Jackets will run through 10-ranked Iowa (10-2) like it's not even there.
But the strength of Iowa's defense lies up front, which Parker says is the key against such an explosive rushing attack. The Hawkeyes allowed just 122 yards rushing per game during the season.
Iowa will make its second Orange Bowl appearance under coach Kirk Ferentz when it plays Georgia Tech on January 5th.
