High School Boys Basketball

@ Charleston Holiday Tournament:

Galesburg lost to Edwardsville 56-40.

The Tigers extended a three-point halftime lead (25-22) to nine after three quarters of play (33-24). The Silver Streaks managed to cut the deficit to seven points on three occasions in the fourth quarter, but could get no closer than that.

Victor Davis led Galesburg (5-6) with 15 points and Brandon Thompson had 10. Edwardsville improved its record to 5-0.

The Streaks look to snap a four-game losing skid Tuesday with two games on the schedule. First up is Charleston at 12:30 then Taylorville at 5:45. Coverage follows Galesburg High School girls basketball on WGIL AM 1400.


Galesburg's Dalton Davis is pressured by Edwardsville's Tommy Anderson as he starts the Streaks' offense. Edwardsville, the Charleston Holiday tournament's two-time defending champion, beat Galesburg 56-40 in the opening game for both teams at Eastern Illinois University's Lantz Arena.

High School Girls Basketball

@ Charleston Holiday Tournament:

Galesburg dominated Urbana from start to finish, winning 81-44.

The win was the third straight for the Silver Streaks (9-6). Galesburg connected on 14 three-point baskets, led by Mickey Rodriguez with five treys and 16 points. Jessica Howard added four three-point baskets and scored 14 points.

The Streaks play Charleston at 11:00 Tuesday morning. Pregame coverage begins around 10:40 on WGIL AM 1400. Galesburg returns at 4:30 against Taylorville. Coverage for that game steps off at 4:06 on WGIL.
