| Galesburg Girls Basketball Team Splits at Charleston |
POSTED 10:40 p-m 12/29/09 Galesburg High School's girls basketball team split its two games on Tuesday, falling to undefeated Charleston and rebounding in the nightcap against Taylorville.
Galesburg led the first three quarters against the Trojans (16-0) on their home floor but got outscored 34-24 in the final stanza and lost 89-83.
Jessica Howard led the Silver Streaks with 20 points. Galesburg made just seven three-point shots in the game, including one by Howard.
The Streaks found their shooting eye against Taylorville back at Eastern Illinois University's Lantz Arena, connecting on 11 three-point baskets in the first half en route to a 79-50 victory against the Tornados (3-10).
Mickey Rodriguez led Galesburg (10-7) with 15 points on five three-point bombs. The Silver Streaks play Effingham in the third-place game Wednesday at 4:30 p-m. Coverage begins at 4:06 on WGIL AM 1400. |
