| Iowa's Lickliter Hopes to be Back to Coaching Next Week |
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- Iowa coach Todd Lickliter says doctors are optimistic he won't suffer any long-terms effects following surgery to repair a carotid artery. Lickliter was released from the hospital Tuesday after a stent was placed in the artery on Saturday. He says he's been advised by doctors to rest for the remainder of the week. Lickliter plans to be back on the sidelines next week, but he won't coach in Friday's game at Iowa State. The Hawkeyes won't play again until hosting Drake on Dec. 19. Speaking Thursday, his voice still hoarse from the procedure, Lickliter was optimistic he'd coach against the Bulldogs. Lickliter says his artery was torn, a condition not related to stress.
