| Zook Insists Bowl Thoughts Can Wait |
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- Illinois football coach Ron Zook says he won't think much about which bowl the Illini could be headed to until after the regular season wrap at Fresno State.
Zook has said for weeks he doesn't want to think about it and doesn't want his players to, either. This week he said he hasn't lobbied for Illinois because he doubts he could sway anyone's choice.
Many prognosticators say the Illini (6-5, 4-4 Big Ten) are headed for the Texas Bowl in Houston. But talk has grown about a possible matchup against Zook's old team, Florida, in the Gator Bowl.
Zook insists he's now concerned only about Fresno State and Friday night's game. The Bulldogs (7-4, 5-3 WAC) embarrassed the Illini last year by beating them in Champaign 53-52. (Copyright 2010 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
