| Illinois Headed to Texas Bowl to Face Baylor |
CHAMPAIGN, Ill (AP) -- Illinois coach Ron Zook says the Illini's Dec. 29 date against Baylor in the Texas Bowl is a great chance for his players to play on a national stage. He says it's also a good chance for Illinois to make an impression on potential Texas recruits.
Zook said Sunday after Illinois announced it had accepted a bid to play in the bowl game in Houston that he hasn't had a chance yet to study Baylor. The Bears (7-5, 4-4 Big 12) will be making their first bowl appearance in 16 seasons.
The Illini finished 6-6 (4-4 Big Ten) a year after going 3-9. Illinois closed its season Friday with a 25-23 loss to Fresno State.
Illinois will make its first bowl appearance since the Rose Bowl after the 2007 season. (Copyright 2010 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
