College Football The BCS made its bowl selections yesterday and put Auburn and Oregon in the championship game on January 10 at Glendale, Arizona. The 12-0 Ducks will play for a national title for the first time, while the 13-0 Tigers seek their first championship since 1957. In the other BCS bowls, Arkansas and Ohio State will play in the Sugar Bowl, the Fiesta Bowl will have Oklahoma against Connecticut, Stanford has a meeting with Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl, and #3 TCU meets Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl.
Illinois coach Ron Zook says the Illini's Dec. 29 date against Baylor in the Texas Bowl is a great chance for his players to play on a national stage. Zook said Sunday after Illinois announced it had accepted a bid to play in the bowl game in Houston that he hasn't had a chance yet to study Baylor.
Northern Illinois will play Fresno State in the Humanitarian Bowl on Dec. 18 in Boise.
The rest of the non-BCS bowl games are set. Notre Dame and Miami will square off in the Sun Bowl on New Year's Eve, one day before Michigan takes on Mississippi State in the Gator Bowl. The Outback Bowl will have Florida against Penn State. |
