| Briggs Solidifies Spot Alongside Great LB's |
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) -- Lance Briggs came into the season asking the Chicago Bears for a new deal. He ends it in select company.
Briggs became the fourth linebacker in franchise history to be selected to at least seven straight Pro Bowls, joining Hall of Famers Dick Butkus, Bill George and Mike Singletary.
He says "those names always come up" in discussions about great Bears linebackers and he thinks his will be in those conversations.
The Pro Bowl nod came near the end of a wild and ultimately disappointing season in which the Bears (7-8) saw their playoff hopes vanish in a drastic collapse. They bring a five-game losing streak into Sunday's finale at Minnesota, looking for their first win without injured quarterback Jay Cutler.
