HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL

The Galesburg Silver Streaks Boys Basketball team is now 3-0 at the Taylorville Holiday Tournament with a pair of wins Friday. The Streaks beat Rantoul in a nail-biter Friday morning 69-66, with Grant Gibson leading the Streaks scoring 40 points. Gibson scored only 26 when the Streaks beat Dunlap 63-55. The Streaks now play Chicago Vocational at the Taylorville tournament Saturday morning at 11:30. You can hear that game beginning at 11:10 on AM 1400 WGIL. The Streaks will finish up at 8 tonight against Taylorville, and our broadcast starts then around 7:40 on WGIL.

HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS BASKETBALL

The Galesburg Silver Streaks Girls Basketball Team will play Saturday in the title game of the Mattoon Holiday Tournament, thanks to two wins of their own Friday. The Streaks took care of host team Mattoon 52-35 Friday afternoon, then went on to a 53-48 defeat of Olney East Richland in the nightcap. Sabrina Clay and Shayli Florine led the Streaks in both games. The Streaks play in the championship game at 3:30 Saturday afternoon (against the winner of Salem and Mattoon Friday night). You can hear that game at 3:10 on WGIL.
