Girls Basketball

The Knoxville Blue Bullets girls basketball team will play for a tournament championship tonight, as they face Rockridge in the title game of the Erie-Warkins Cardinal Classic Holiday Tournament. Gametime is set for six o'clock. The Monmouth-Roseville girls will play for third place against the host team, also at 6pm.

The Galesburg Silver Streaks girls are back at practice, after winning all five games they played in winning the title at the 35th annual Mattoon Holiday Tournament.

Boys Basketball

Meanwhile, the Galesburg boys are working towards their next game on Saturday, when they will play Peoria Central as part of the first-ever Galesburg High School shootout. Coach Mike Reynolds team is 11-4 as they get set to turn the calendar to 2014, but a pair of losses on Saturday at the Taylorville Tournament left the Streak's boss unhappy with his team's inability to finish off games against good teams.

The Silver Streaks let games against Chicago Vocational and Taylorville get away on Saturday after having opportunities to win in the closing minutes. They finished in a 3-way tie for second place at 3-and-2, with Grant Gibson and Ethan Meeker being named to the all-tournament team.
