All is quiet on the high school sports schedule for the next two days, as teams take a break for the New Year's Holiday. The Knoxville girls basketball team will enjoy the holiday, after winning the tournament at Erie last night. The Blue Bullets defeated Rockridge 42-36 for their 8th straight win, as they improved to 15-5 for the season. Megan Axcell had 13 points, and was named the tournament MVP. Meanwhile, the Knoxville boys dropped their third place game to Bureau Valley 58-56 in overtime. Tyler Houston led the Blue Bullets with 33 points.

Looking towards the weekend, the Galesburg girls basketball team will play at Rock Island Friday night. Coach Evan Massey's team has won eight straight, but will be hard pressed by the Rocks, who took fourth place at the State Farm Classic in Bloomington last night. The Silver Streak girls will also take part in the BSN Shootout at GHS on Saturday afternoon when they meet Sterling at 3:30.
