|The Galesburg Public Library Construction Committee was supposed to hold a meeting Tuesday afternoon, but cancelled unexpectedly.
The reason behind the cancellation was a misunderstanding of language in a State Library grant application.
In order to receive the grant to help fund the new Library construction project, the position of construction manager would need to be bid out.
Board President Martin Reichel tells WGIL that they were under the impression they could use the "construction manager at risk" formula.
"We've got to go back and find out what we need to do and we'll have to change our method of selection from what we've been doing to a bid type thing rather than selecting a manager and then negotiating a price," says Reichel.
Reichel says the Library Construction Committee will need to reschedule to get the bid process organized.
The Library Board of Trustees will be interviewing architects for the new library starting Monday.
Once an architect is selected, the Library can have a schematic design developed for Construction Managers to bid on.
