|It was a rather straight forward school board meeting Thursday night for District 276.
Most of the items on the agenda were previously discussed and ready for action to be taken.
There was only one new item on the Agenda--one that seemed small compared to others but nonetheless just as important.
After months of community impute District 276 finally has a name.
School board President Sherry Lomax tells WGIL across the board the community seemed to have the same idea for what to call the district.
"We took the names that had been recommended online and the majority of the names were to kind of keep the two districts together. And so we went with Abingdon-Avon Community Unit School District 276.
The board also voted and approved the Curriculum for the upcoming school year.
Lomax says once they get the curriculum in place they can at a latter date go back and change or tweek it.
That probably would happen after the school year's in progress and the board and teachers can see what's working
