Significant Weekend Snow, Then More on Tuesday
The National Weather Service says Mother Nature didn't let up between Friday night and Saturday afternoon in most of the region, with significant snowfall amounts being reported.

Weather Service totals indicate anywhere from four to seven inches of snow falling across the region, with the majority of it falling Friday night into early Saturday.

As of Saturday night, forecasters say as much as 6 1/2 inches of snow fell in Knoxville, with nearly eight inches falling in Abingdon. Both Galesburg and Altona reported a 24-hour storm total of nearly six inches.

Police responded to a number of accidents as well, with most of them coming along Interstate 74. None have been reported to have serious injuries.

The Weather Service isn't yet certain on totals, but they do say another significant snowfall will come most of Tuesday.

Most indications, they say, are that the Galesburg area could get anywhere between four and six more inches of snow between the day and evening hours.

As has been the case the last number of weekends in the area, the next possible accumulating snowfall after Tuesday could come -- you guessed it -- Friday night and into Saturday.
