|The West Central Illinois Museum Alliance is taking over Sandburg Mall this Saturday in an effort to show residents of Western Illinois just how much there is to do around the area.
The Museum and Food Expo will showcase all sorts of museums and restaurants from Moline to Macomb and everything in between.
Jim Clayton with the Galesburg Railroad Museum says it's amazing how much there is to do in this area, but so many people have no idea what's out there.
He tells the WGIL Morning News they're hoping the event will change all that.
"I mention all the time the museum down at Biggsville, Illinois. It's a horse-and-buggy museum," Clayton said. "Not to degrade it or anything, but I call it 'a mom-and-pop operation,' but people don't even know about it. They've got a very nice museum down there. It's something worth going to see. Or, you can go to Canton, Lewistown, or Carthage."
Clayton says there will be around 60 different booths at the mall representing everything from food to museums to shopping.
Locally the Pizza House, Discovery Depot and the Galesburg Railroad Museum will be there to represent Galesburg.
