Fire All But Destroys Local Business
A Galesburg business remains open and operational, even if a fire destroyed its physical location Saturday night.

Galesburg Firefighters say crews were called around 7:30 Saturday night to Voorhees, Siding, Window, and Roofing in the 16-hundred block of Monmouth Boulevard for a building on fire.

Crews say the building was fully engulfed at the time of the blaze and no one was inside, but eyewitnesses told WGIL sometime before they fire, they saw someone wandering around the building.

Firefighters had the blaze under control in about a half-hour, though officials say they didn't start attacking the fire right away because of the extreme heat of the flames.

All told, investigators and crews were on scene for around three hours.

An official cause is undetermined, and a state fire marshal investigator is assisting.

The building was all but completely gutted and is believed to be a total loss.

No word on if any firefighters were injured.
