Gale Elementary Receives Recognition
Gale Elementary School in Galesburg is being recognized for five years of academic achievement by the State Board of Education.

In order to receive recognition from the state, 90 percent of students attending the school are required to be meeting state standards in reading and math.

Current Gale Principal John Bradburn tells WGIL that Gale's attention to the data is crucial.

"Other schools have done that as well in the district and that has been a big part of the district approach," says Bradburn. "They've really gone into looking at the data and focusing on the results."

The results are reported on the State Board of Education website as well as the state interactive report card.

The schools then break down the data into different categories which range from meeting to a warning level on academic achievement.

Bradburn says Gale also uses an integrated team test and screenings are conducted periodically throughout the elementary school process to track progress.
