|A tour of construction projects was had during Thursday afternoon's District 205 Building Committee meeting.
Committee members toured Lombard Middle School and Steele elementary for a couple of hours donning hard-hats.
The projects - which are part of Phase One projects - have been undergoing construction throughout the school year.
Now that summer is upon the district, the construction crews will be able to accomplish more work and in a more timely fashion.
Russell Construction manager Chad White tells WGIL that summer is good for both the kids and the construction crews.
"We are able to have access to the whole building and just can do a lot more work and not be affecting students with noise or dust or anything like that"
During the tour, unexpected changes to plans were discussed to the committee.
Classrooms, the boiler room, and updates to the entryway were all viewed for their construction quality.
Restoration of several areas to both buildings as well as the removal of asbestos tiles was directly apparent.
At Lombard, the first floor and the front of the building will experience the bulk of the work.
