PEKIN, Ill. (AP) -- Police in Pekin say they are still trying to determine why a homeless man from Chicago broke into nine homes to steal small change in a weeklong burglary spree.
Pekin Police Officer Mike Sanders said Tuesday that 42-year-old James Batterson was arrested Sunday on an outstanding Illinois Department of Corrections warrant for escape, resisting a police officer and possession of cannabis.
Sanders said that police believe that during his alleged crime spree, Batterson mainly targeted loose change in the homes he broke into. (Copyright 2010 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
