Juvenile Arrested for Allegedly Assaulting Cop
A 16-year old Galesburg boy has been arrested for allegedly attacking a police officer.

Police were called by the boy's step-father early Tuesday when the boy left home.

According to police reports, the boy is on home confinement. His ankle bracelet, however, had a dead battery and the charger was broken.

The step-father told police he had contacted juvenile probation and they are supposed to deliver a new charger, however, the boy took off in the meantime.

Police began searching the area for the boy.

One officer spotted him on Dayton Street at Jefferson Street. The officer asked the boy to stop multiple times but he did not.

The officer caught up to the boy, and asked him to stop one more time, but again the boy did not comply.

The officer then took hold of the boys left wrist from behind. The boy allegedly swung around with his right fist and struck the dodging officer in the collarbone area.

A taser was used to subdue the 16-year old and he was arrested for aggravated battery of a peace officer.

He was taken to the Knox County Jail for booking and then to the Mary Davis Home.
