Teen Arrested in Gun Incident
Galesburg Police responded to the area of Seminary and Knox Streets to a possible battery in progress.

According to the police report, a 16 year old male and his 14 year old brother were walking East on North Street just after midnight Wednesday morning.

The two were planning to meet up with two girls so that the teens could return a Nook tablet reader they claimed didn't work. While walking down the street, a 25 year old victim claims that one of the teens spotted him on the porch and said something to him.

Due to some noise, the 25 year old was unable to make out what the teen said to him. That's when the 16 year old allegedly pulled a gun from his waistband and pointed it at the victim. The victim could see some nervousness on the teen and reportedly told him to drop the gun. At that point, the two teens took off on foot with the 25 year old giving chase.

During the chase, the 16 year old allegedly threw the gun into the bushes. Police searched the area, but reportedly turned up nothing in the incident. Officers arrested the 16 year old and allegedly located a knife on his person that he said was for self defense.

He is being charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
