Man Accused of Shooting Appears in Court
A Galesburg man accused of opening fire outside a local bar last weekend has made another appearance in court.

32-year-old James Currie made a brief appearance in Knox County Circuit Court Friday morning with his Public Defender, Jim Harrell.

Currie faces felony charges of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Reckless Discharge of a Firearm, and Aggravated Assault, along with a misdemeanor count of Possession of a Firearm Without a Firearm Owners I.D. Card.

Currie was arrested early Sunday morning. Prosecutors say he came into contact with some people he knew outside the West Side Lounge on Brooks Street, when he and a man got into an altercation.

That led to Currie allegedly returning to his car, pulling out a pistol, and shooting at the man, but not injuring him.

Harrell this morning requested a preliminary hearing in the case, and a hearing on a motion to reduce Currie's 100-thousand dollar bond.

Both of those will be held September 9th.
