|CHICAGO (AP)--Chicago authorities say the city's official Christmas tree will be a 57-foot Colorado blue spruce from South Holland.
The massive tree will be illuminated on Nov. 26 during a special downtown ceremony.
Officials with the city's Cultural Affairs Department say the tree from the Chicago suburb will be felled on Thursday. It's set to make its way to Daley Plaza on Friday.
This is the 100th year that Chicago has displayed an official tree downtown.
In a news release, city officials say the first tree was a 35-foot Douglas Spruce that was augmented to make it look much larger.
