Guilty Pleas Entered in Kankakee Doctor's Death
KANKAKEE, Ill. (AP) -- A Kankakee man has pleaded guilty to stabbing an 81-year-old doctor to death and wounding the man's wife in October of last year.

Phillip Horrell was to go to trial Monday in the death of Dr. James Goldstein of Kankakee and attack on Betty Goldenstein. Horrell entered the pleas Friday to charges of murder and attempted murder. But Horrell says he is mentally ill and asked for treatment. His sentencing is set for January.

State prison officials have said Horrell was paroled from Dixon Correctional Center just days before the attacks. He served time for burglary and other charges.
