The jobs picture may be improving in Galesburg as the the area reported unemployment of 8.2 percent for November. That's down from 8.5 percent in October and 8.8% from this period a year ago according to the Illinois Department of Employment Security. Knox County reported an unemployment rate non-seasonally adjusted unemployment of 7.8%, down from 8.5% the previous year. More than 2,000 people are still unemployed in the County. Around the listening area, Henry County reported 6.5%, Stark saw 7.8, Warren 6.6 and Fulton County reported 9% unemployment. The state of Illinois improved to 8.2% in November from 8.4% unemployment in October. That is still above the national average of 7.4%. |
