|Paul E. "Pep" Pierson, 84, of Galesburg went to be with the Lord at 6:16 a.m. Monday, January 14, 2013 in OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Ill.
He was born June 8, 1928 in Galesburg the son of Ake and Elsie Swanson Pierson. He married Ardis Y. Adell on August 21, 1960 in Galesburg, Ill. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, David F. (Kim) Pierson of O'Fallon, Ill. and Daniel R. Pierson of Orlando, Fla. and seven grandchildren, Lindsay, Kyle, Andrew, Cam, Caty, Carter and Caleb. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sisters and brothers, Anna Marie Johann, Ruth Cross, Oscar, Carl, Richard and Baby Paul.
Paul worked in the mechanical department for Burlington Northern Railroad for 38 1/2 years. He retired as foreman in 1984. After retirement, he worked for the former First Galesburg National Bank. He graduated from Galesburg High School. Paul was a member of the Covenant Church. He served on every board, was Sunday School superintendent and sang for 66 years in the church choir. Pep was very active in the construction of the new church building and all phases of the church life. He enjoyed playing soft ball, was active in several bowling leagues and loved golfing at Bunker Links.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, January 19, 2013 at the Covenant Church. Rev. Tom Ek will officiate. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Covenant Church.
